Gerald A. Burton, 70, of New Holstein, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 27, 2015, from complications from pneumonia.

He was born September 16, 1945, in Port Washington to the late William & Marie (Lauth) Burton.Jerry attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School in Port Washington. He graduated from Port Washington High School in 1963 and received his Bachelor and Master Degree from U.W. Whitewater.Jerry began teaching at New Holstein High School in 1967. He remained there until retiring in 2004. He announced many years for football, basketball and track. He was very inspirational and clever with his way of teaching. Many of his students went on to be CPA's and work in other careers in business.He was well known for his sense of humor. Those that knew him fondly remember his position as being the "King". Jerry also was a life-long baseball fan.

Survivors include his daughter, Kari (Tom) Swietlik of Bayside; his son, Jason Burton of Sunnyvale, CA; his grandson, Jack Burton; his three sisters, Barbara (George) Farrell of South Daytona, FL, Joyce (Joseph) Ulrich of Port Washington and Janet Forbes of Mequon; two brothers-in-law, Herman (Marilyn) Knight of Rewey, WI and Arnold (Teresa) Knight of Barneveld and a sister-in-law, Lois (Daryl) DeNure of Monroe. He is further survived by his puppy, "Bud"; many nieces, nephews and many friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William & Marie Burton; his wife, Lynn; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold & Mary Alice Knight and a brother-in-law, Douglas Forbes.

Jerry will be laid to rest next to his wife, Lynn, at Middlebury Cemetery in rural Barneveld.
