Angela was born in Willock Pennsylvania. In 1943, she married and moved to Hollywood and supported her husband as he pursued an acting career. Divorced in 1953, she loaded her 7-year-old son into the car and drove to Kansas, settling in Leavenworth. In 1958 she met A.T. Pumphrey, a US Army major. They married in 1959. She served as Red Cross Chairman at various army posts in Europe and the USA until his retirement in San Antonio in 1971. She was an avid tennis player and golfer. Angela studied rug hooking and became a teacher of that craft, traveling throughout the USA. Her rugs have appeared in national magazines and an annual rug hooking convention was named in her honor. Among her students - "Angela's Angels" - she was well known for her phrase, "Rip it OUT!" when their work was not up to their capabilities or, if she just didn't like it.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2010 and is survived by her son, his wife and two grandchildren.
