"Frederick William Haultain (1821-1882), after a military career that began in 1837, retired to Peterborough in 1860. His military career include a stin as Captain-Inspector of the Royal Gun Factories in Woolwich Arsenal. After stints as MPP in Ottawa and in Montreal, 1869-73, he returned to Peterborough to be the County Registrar in succession to Charles Rubidge. He married, 1850, Helen Gordon daughter of Major General Gordon. He died suddenly..." (The Peterborough Examiner, 22 July 2017.)
