Mrs. Lois Allene Duncan Boyers, 94, formerly of Thomaston, died Tuesday, December 29th, 2015 at the Oak Landing Assisted Living in Attalla, AL.
Funeral services for Mrs. Boyers will be held on Friday, January 1, 2016 at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Barber will officiate and interment will follow in the Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Boyers was born on October 11, 1921 in Fort Payne, AL, a daughter of the late Floyd Duncan and Nannie Charlotte Boyt Duncan. Mrs. Boyers lived most of her life in Thomaston and was employed for many years in the Personnel Office of Thomaston Mills until her retirement in 1975. She later worked for Thomaston Federal Savings and Loan Association as well as other banks.
Mrs. Boyers was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thomaston and was active in the life of the church. She was a church greeter and worked in the Church Library. She volunteered her time at the Thomaston-Upson Archives and was a member of the Upson Regional Medical Center Auxillary.
Mrs. Boyers is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Barry Lynn and Debbie Boyers of Southside, AL; a sister, Clara Mills Duncan Turner of Zebulon; a grandson Samuel Philip Boyers and his wife, Cally, of Pelham, AL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Alfred Boyers, and a brother, Floyd Allen Duncan.
