Jazz Musician. In the early 1980s, he co-founded the jazz group "Fattburger" and entered into San Diego's jazz music scene. His good looks and dazzling saxophone solos quickly made him San Diego's most popular Jazz player. Later, he formed his own group, Hollis Gentry's "Neon" and packed clubs across the San Diego Country. As a player's player, he caught the ear of internationally acclaimed saxophone artist Charles McPherson. He also toured with Al Jarreau, Larry Carlton, Cannonball Adderley, Nancy Wilson, Barry White, Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Clarke, and Joe Sample. Besides two solo album recordings, he served as Senior Vice President and Director of Artists and Repertoire for Latin Jazz, World-Beat and Reggae Music. On September 2, 2004, he was in a serious auto accident. Although he suffered career-ending injuries, he continued to compose until his death.
