Lawrence “Buddy” Powell, age 67 of Sweetwater, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at his home. He attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a well-known builder in the area.
Survivors include spouse; Brenda Powell of Sweetwater, sons; Mike and Robin Powell, Jeff and Lisa Powell and Scott Powell all of Sweetwater. Sisters and spouses; Sue and Gene Fain of Rogersville, TN. Vickie and Ronnie McCulloch of Athens, TN and Tammy and Robert Hedgecoch of Summersville, GA. Five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The body is at Sweetwater Memory Chapel in Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Saturday, January 2, 2016. Funeral services will be at 7:00 with Rev. Rodger Arwood and Rev. Keith Wilcox officiating. The family will be meeting for the internment at 1:00 PM on Sunday, January 3, 2016 in West View Cemetery. Sweetwater Memory Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
