He was born April 6, 1959 in Chester County, the son of the late Robert Edgar and Dorothy Sue Climer Austin.
He attended Chester County Schools. He was a heavy equipment operator in underground construction having worked for Whaley Construction, as a supervisor. He had owned a business with his father, Austin Backhoe.
He is survived by a son, Chad Austin of Henderson; two step daughters, Heather Barnes and Judy Farley both of Jackson; a brother, Billy Austin and wife Shannon of Henderson; a sister, Bonnie Cox and husband Kenneth, Jr. of Henderson and a granddaughter, Addy Austin.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Ken Frye and Ken Kitchen officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah Cemetery.
