Betty Jo Averitte was born to Joseph and Martha Averitte on September 30, 1949. She was a free spirited individual that truly loved Jesus Christ and always tried to advise and teach anyone she met to walk in the footsteps of Christ.

She was a graduate of Harry E. Wood High School. She worked at the Indianapolis Housing Authority where she shined in the Collections department. She then decided to spend the later years of her life working and eventually retiring as a flight attendant for American Airlines.

She was a very imaginative and creative individual. Betty enjoyed fine arts, as well as, such things as: plays, drawing, poetry, painting, reading, crocheting and crafting. She also loved designing her own personal greeting cards.

She was a devoted member of College Avenue Church of Christ and a devout Christian for over 40 years. She enjoyed serving as a teacher and mentor to many of the young people in the congregation. She was a daily bible reader and displayed great pride in her memorization of the scriptures.

Betty passed on December 27, 2015 and is survived by her siblings: Joseph Jr., Joseph Charles Anthony, Anthony Averitte, Sr. and Velma Howard.

Her survivors also include her 7 children: Lawrence, Lamont, Kia, Scott, Solomon, El and Philip. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and a great grandchild.
