Sally was born on September 27, 1922, in Magnolia, Illinois the daughter of Carroll and Thelma (Defenbaugh) Satterfield. Sally attended the Magnolia Township School system, graduating from high school in 1940.
On February 17, 1946, Sally was united in marriage to Keith G. Stansell in Magnolia, Illinois.
The couple farmed in Lostant, Illinois for 15 years, moving to Waverly in 1961. After moving Sally worked for Merideth Ward Insurance Company and as Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools at Waverly-Shell Rock.
Sally was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly, where she was involved with United Methodist Women and Trinity Quilters. In her spare time
Sally enjoyed quilting, reading, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and day trips and picnicking with family, however, what she enjoyed most was time with her grandchildren.
Her memory is honored by her two children and their spouses, Dennis (Beverly) Stansell of Waverly, Iowa, Debra (Ron) Bigger of Waverly, Iowa; two grandchildren, Nicky Stansell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Nadene (Fred) French of Ames, Iowa; three great-grandchildren, Nathan Stansell and Benjamin and Kaitlyn French; and a sister, Betty Lou (Marion) Bentlin of Magnolia, Illinois.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Keith; a grandson, Noel Stansell; two sisters, Berkley Brown and Barbara Clift; and a brother, Robert Satterfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly, with Pastor Deborah Coble-Wise officiating. Burial will be in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity United or Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.
