Melissa Grossman, 35 of Carroll, died Sunday evening at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Craig Collison. Con-Celebrants will be Fr. Timothy Johnson and Fr. Richard Remmes. Music for the mass will be by Kate Cuddy, St. Lawrence Choir, with Jake Gute and Kathleen Macke as cantors. Mass Server will be: Jack O’Neill. Lectors for the funeral mass will be: Kelsey Wiggs, David Albrecht and Carter Albrecht. Gift Bearers will be: Alex Wiggs, Maddison O’Neill, Molly O’Neill, Jeff Brunson, Heidi DenBeste, Maddie Albrecht, Collin Kentopp, James Wiggs and John Brinker. Eucharistic Minister will be Tamie Badding. Casket Bearers will be: Nicole Kentopp, Roseanne Kleinschmit, Sadie Magnusson, Courtney Malone, Nick Thompson, Kaitlynn Craig, Shayli Meyer and Joe Albrecht. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Friends may call at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Wednesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. Lawrence Church at 9 a.m. on Thursday until time of the funeral mass.

In lieu of flowers, Melissa's family requests memorials to the Myles Grossman Education Fund.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.

Born of November 17, 1980 at Sioux City, Iowa, Melissa Marie was the daughter of Scott and Sara (O’Neill) Suter. She spent her early years in Sioux City where she attended school until moving to Carroll in the 7th grade, later graduating from Kuemper High School with the Class of 1999. Melissa furthered her education as a graduate of Iowa State University.

Following her schooling, she held various jobs in the Des Moines area. On October 10, 2009, Melissa was united in marriage to Mike Grossman at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. To this union was a son Myles, who she loved and cherished so dearly. In 2012, they moved back to Carroll where Melissa owned and operated Melissa Marie Photography.

She had a passion for photography; her creativity, high energy can be attributed to the success of her business. Melissa loved people; she loved socializing with her many friends, her family and always put others before herself. Her greatest joy truly was her entire family, especially her son Myles.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Mike Grossman of Carroll; her son Myles Grossman, at home; her parents: Sara and Dean Albrecht of Carroll; her father, Scott (Trudy) Suter of Burnsville, MN; her siblings: Abbey Albrecht of Carroll, Lexi Albrecht of Carroll, Nicole Suter, Jennifer Suter, and Ashley Suter, all of Burnsville, MN; her parents-in-law, John and Joan Grossman of Carroll; her grandparents: Marge Albrecht of Wall Lake, and Dick (Marilyn) Suter of Anthem, AZ; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jennifer (Andrew) Poggio of Kansas City, KS, and Nick (Johanna) Grossman of Denver, CO; her aunts and uncles: Jody (Nick) Kentopp, Nancy Wiggs, Mary Pat (Phil) Thompson, Lori (Dale) Meyer, Mark (Dawn) O’Neill, Cindy Brunson, Dick (Marcy) Albrecht, Steve (Julie) Albrecht, Lori Suter and Jill (Paul) Prout; as well as other extended relatives and many friends.

Melissa was preceded in death by her grandparents: Eugene and Rosie O’Neill and Dale Albrecht.
