W/o Bruce R. Longstreth (married 28 Feb 1917 in Nevada, Vernon, Mo).

Obituary

Florence DeGood was born at Fairfield, Iowa, Aug 12 1900, where her childhood was passed, moving with her parents to Horton, Mo., 7 years ago. She gave her heart to God and united with the M. E. Church of that place 5 years ago. She was married to Bruce Longstreth, February 29, 1917.

A son, Robert Earl, was born of this union. Mrs. Longstreth contracted the influenza last winter. She suffered a relapse which violently settled on her lungs and although all that loving hands and the best of care was given she grew rapidly worse until she passed peacefully away November 25. Through all her suffering she was patient and locing during her illness ever kind and considerate to those tenderly caring for her.

She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. N. DeGood at whose home she passed the remaining months of her weak young life and the following relatives have the sympathy of many friends in this peculiarly sad loss.

The young husband, and little son, Robert, the parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. N. DeGood, four sisters, Mrs. Loyd Stanford, and Mrs. Grace South (sic. Louth), of Fairfield, Iowa, Miss Anne Sarver of Little Rock, Ark., and Mildred DeGood, of this city; three brothers, Byron, deceased, and Glen(n) and Paul of Nevada. Also a number of other relatives who will remember Florence as a sweet gracious little girl who was always in her glory doing loving deeds of kindness to her precious ones and friends.

The funeral was held from the DeGood home Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Stout, of the Christian church. The room which contained the casket was an entire bank of beautiful flowers which testified to the esteem this young wife and sweet mother was held. She was laid tenderly to rest in Newton Burial Park.

Tis said to break the tender cord
when love has bound the heart
‘Tis hard, so hard, to speak the words
we must forever part.
Dearest loved one we have laid thee
in the peaceful grave's embrace.
And thy memory will be cherished
till we see thy heavenly face.
