Larry Atkinson, age 62, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away December 28, 2015, at the Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born July 18, 1953 to Robert and Emma Atkinson in Clarkston Michigan, the youngest of ten siblings. Larry was united in marriage to Marcia Atkinson August 1, 1972. They lived near their home towns until they moved to Wisconsin in 1991. Larry was a machinist for most of his career. He was a family man, which he would say was his biggest hobby. He enjoyed cooking for his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Larry wasn’t much of a reader, but he loved to read his Bible. He also served as a deacon at Ambassador Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching vintage war movies. He is survived by his wife Marcia of Tomah, his sisters Jenny and Eva, his brothers, Billy and Lenny, his children Zachary (Brenda) grandchildren, Brandy and Travis of Alpena, MI; Anthony (Faith) and grandchildren Emily and Anna of Tomah; and Julie (Paul) and grandchildren, Justin, Alex, Jezreel, and Charity of Wilton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Emma, his sisters Ruth, Erma and Annie, his brothers, Atley and Bobby. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at Ambassador Baptist Church, 15863 Hwy 16, Sparta, WI 54656. Pastor Clyde Ewers will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Tomah, Wisconsin. Family and friends are invited for visitation Friday, January 1, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are also invited for visitation Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.
