Joseph "Larry" Brewer, age 79, of Oneonta, AL passed away at a Birmingham Hospital on December 27, 2015. Mr. Brewer served in the United States Air National Guard. He retired from ABC Coke/Drummond Company after 38 years; was a member of Lester Memorial United Methodist Church; enjoyed train collecting, classic cars and was a member of the Covered Bridge Classic Car Club; Heart of Dixie Camping Club and a member of Locust Fork Masonic Lodge.
Preceding him in death were his brother Dan Gordon Brewer and wife Annie Ruth Brewer. Survivors include his wife Sue Brewer of Oneonta; sons, Steve Allen (Debra Faye) of Alpine, Michael Lawrence Brewer of Birmingham, Darryl Brewer (Nancy) of Pell City and Michael T. Lutley (Misty) of Southside; daughter Kelly Gordon (Rusty) of Orlando, FL; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Bro. Barry Hallman and Bro. Tommy Stewart will officiate funeral services on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 11AM from Lester Memorial United Methodist Church with burial following at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Mr. Brewer will lie in state at Lester Memorial United Methodist Church on Thursday from 10 AM until service time.
Pallbearers: Harold Cleveland, Hal Ray, Austin Brewer, Mason Tarrant, Matthew Tarrant, Steve Allen.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Animal Adoption Center of Blount County.
