Performer for More Than Seven Decades Is Dead

Bijou Fernandez, whose career in the legitimate theatre spanned more than seven decades, died yesterday morning at University Hospital after a brief illness. She was 84 years old and lived at the Lancaster Hotel, 22 East Thirty-eighth Street.

Miss Bijou was born here, the daughter of Mrs. E. L. Fernandez, a well-known dramatic agent.

As a child actress she appeared with James O’Neill in “The Two Orphans,” . . .

During World War I, she was active in the Stage Women’s War Relief. . .

There are no immediate survivors.
