Ella Belle Denby was born on November 13, 1880 and passed away on February 12, 1961 at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 28 days. She was the eldest child of Charles and Mary (King) Tongate. She was born at Palmyra, Illinois where she grew to womanhood. She obtained her education in the rural schools at Palmyra.
December 7, 1899 she was united in marriage to Henry N. Denby of Carlinville, Illinois and to this union for children were born.
Surviving are her husband; two sons: Charles W. of Tucson, Arizona; Everette M. of Boulder, Colorado; two daughters: Mrs. Joe Fibakar (Mary) of Dows and Mrs. Clarence Clark (Fern) of Central Point, Oregon and one brother, Earl Tongate of Corpus Christie, Texas. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
In her early years, she became a member of the Baptist church, later changing to the Methodist Church in Dows.
