Bobby was born in Horry County, SC on November 21, 1936.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Louise Bellamy Day; his brother, Billy Day; and best friends, Henry L. Arthur, Sr., and Cecil Hayes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara (Jean) Lackey; his loving daughter, Tammy, the apple of his eye whom he nicknamed peanut; sister, Mary Lou (Carl) Shelton); brothers, Bryan (Joann) Day, Sammy Day; his special cousin, Rita (Adrian) Bulluck; and many in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Bobby retired from the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock co. after 36 years of employment.
Bobby was also a proud soldier, having served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Charity Independent Baptist Church. He also belonged to the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1119. Bobby loved The Lord and loved being in church. He also enjoyed playing golf, working in his garden and watching old westerns. He also loved animals, especially his dogs having raised several and taking in strays.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Charity Independent Baptist Church, 39 Harpersville, Newport News, VA, officiated by Pastor Bruce House. The burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park with Military Honors.
