Benjamin F. Tomchek, 81, of St. Mary Home, Manitowoc, formerly of 1329 S. 19th
Street, Manitowoc, died early Monday morning, April 22, at St. Mary Home.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Parkside Funeral Home and 10
a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will
be concelebrated by Rev. Harold Berryman and Msgr. Edward Witczak with burial
to follow at St. Casimir's Cemetery, Town of Newton.
Mr. Tomchek was born April 28, 1903, in the Town of Newton, son of the late
Walter and Frances Mrotek Tomchek. Mr. Tomchek worked in the accounting department
at White House Milk Company in Manitowoc for 38 years, retiring in 1968. He
married the former Alice Gospodarek on October 28, 1939, at St. Mary Catholic
Church, Manitowoc. Mr. Tomchek was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and
previously of the Holy Name Society of the church.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Nancy
Tomchek of Manitowoc and Allan and Patrica Tomchek of Ann Arbor, Michigan; two
daughters and sons-in-law (sic), Miss Mary Tomchek of Seattle, Washington and
Miss Rita Tomchek of Manitowoc; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sheryl Tomchek of Sedalia,
Missouri; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph and Irma Tomchek of Sheboygan
and Zenon Tomchek of Newton; a sister and a brother-in-law, Celia and Oliver Landt
of Milwaukee; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Tomchek of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren,
nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survived. He was preceded in
death by a son, John Tomchek in 1977, three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday
evening. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday led by Father Berryman
and the Daughters of Isabella.
