Michael P. Patrick

Michael P. Patrick, age 78, of 1518 S. 37th St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly on Saturday morning, February 5, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2000 at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Northeim. Rev. Frank Kerscher will celebrate the mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.

Mike was born Aug. 29, 1921 at Warren, Ohio, son of the late Adam and Mary Baranek Patrick. Mike grew up in Warren and moved to the Manitowoc area in 1942. On Aug. 12, 1944 Mike was married to the former Ann Urbanec at Sacred Hearth Catholic Church in Manitowoc. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in 1999.

"Pa" was employed by the Manitowoc Shipyards, contributing to the WWII effort building submarines and totaled over 40 proud years of service there, retiring in 1986. At the same time Mike and Ann farmed at their residence on Clover Road in the town of Newton until 1975 when they sold the farm to their son and moved to Cleveland, and later moving to Manitowoc in 1996.

However, our father's primary occupation in life was that of husband and father. His family was the purpose and wholeness of his life. In both times of plenty or lean, he always provided a merry Christmas, or a happy birthday to his children along with his ever-present love, praise and words of encouragement.

Pa's shoulders were big enough to carry any problem, yet never a more humble, polite man ever lived. A gentle spirit, his defining characteristic lives on each day. In later years his attention in summer turned to a beautiful yard filled with flowers.

His trademark, impatients, that lined the driveway will be missed by every passerby. And in the fall, Pa, a true Packer fan, could be found with Sunday afternoon's game on, with his beloved dog Teddy at his side. The patriarch of the Patrick family, our father quietly and thankfully worked, had raised a family and set an example for all.

Never a rich or famous man, but certainly the most, the very most loved man by his friends and family whom he taught to love so well, Pa was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and a former member of the Manitowoc Eagles Aerie #706.

Survivors include his wife, Ann, his children include Michele (Richard) Hallwachs, James (Sheryl) Patrick, Margie (Mathew) Meyer and Theresa Patrick, all of Manitowoc. Seven grandchildren include Michael Hallwachs of Manitowoc and his fiancée Bonnie Janda and her son Josh Janda, Frances Patrick of Milwaukee, Jesse Patrick of Manitowoc and his fiancée Nichole Seiler and her son Devon Seiler, Katie (Nate) Walkner of Manitowoc, Casey Patrick of Fort Leonardwood, MO; Joe Buchholz of Manitowoc, Annie Buchholz of Manitowoc; one great granddaughter Jensen Patrick, three step grandsons, Jess, Levi, and Luke Dinkla; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stephen (Irene) Urbanec of Arlington Heights, IL, a special friend of Ann & Mike's, Alvina Kalcik, nieces and nephews include Steve, Mike, Robert, and John Urbanec, Patricia Ely, Jen Schubr and their families and Pa's daily companion Teddy.

Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St., Manitowoc, on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday at St. Casimir Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. A parish prayer service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
