He was born Aug. 19, 1925, to James L. and Mattie Godman Gault in Coryell County. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1942. After graduating, he worked on the family farm. He married Dorothy Keever on Sept. 7, 1946. They moved to Killeen where he worked building the tunnels at West Fort Hood. He started his own concrete business in Killeen, which he owned for 30 years. He then worked for the Killeen Independent School District for 10 years. He was a member of Alsbury Baptist Church in Burleson, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Killeen 1947-1996 and he was a former deacon at Silver Creek Baptist Church in Lake Buchanan.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Gault of Burleson; a son, Robert F. Gault of Burleson; two daughters, Lanelle Bailey of College Station and Elaine Ortiz of Pflugerville; a sister, Vivian Blackwell of Belton; and eight grandchildren.
