Obituary of Edward Bowers, Sr.
Edward C. Bowers, Sr. of Roscoe, NY, a retired buyer for Bogner-Seitel Lumber Company, Monticello, NY and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, December 25, 2015 at the Roscoe Regional Rehab & RHCF, Roscoe, NY with his family and his canine companion, Belle, by his side. He was 73.
The son of the late Sturgis “Jack” and Ruth Frederica Goodrich Bowers, he was born January 23, 1942 in Roscoe, NY.
Edward was a graduate of Roscoe Central School and played football for Notre Dame University and Ithaca College; he was an avid hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed spending time at Green Lake in Canada and sharing his hunting stories.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer L. Moylan and her husband Jack of Liberty, NY; his son, Edward C. Bowers, Jr. and his wife Erin of Gansevoort, NY; his brothers, Allen Bowers and his wife Nancy of Castle Rock, CO and Jon Bowers and his wife Jan of Neversink, NY; one son-in-law, Merlin Brock of Roscoe, NY; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Kasse, and Nathan Brock, and Ethan and Maura Bowers; several nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Belle.
He was predeceased by his wife, Eileen T. Gerrity Bowers, who he married on August 31, 1963; one daughter, Beth Ann Brock; and two sons, Christopher Bowers and Matthew John Bowers; one sister, Rosemary Shea; and a special aunt, Helen Hubert.
Edward’s family would like to thank everyone on the South Wing of the Roscoe Reg. Rehabilitation Facility for their special care and Josephine Banks for her care while he was at home.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 4-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 7PM in the funeral home. Father Edward Bader will officiate.
Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, NY.
