While working at the Unique Café, she met the love of her life, Darrel Ward, after he returned home from serving in World War II. They were united in marriage on Oct. 20, 1947, at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Dubuque, Iowa. To this union were born two daughters, Catherine (William) Komarek and Karen (David) Gehrke, the joys of her life. Pearl was employed at Schultz Bros. store after graduation, and in 1961, she became the church secretary at St. Johns Lutheran Church for 37 years. In 2000, she retired to become the caregiver for her husband, Darrel.
She is survived by her daughters, Catherine (William) Komarek of Sun Prairie and Karen (David) Gehrke of Reedsburg; her grandchildren, Amy (Jeff) Metzer of Stoughton, Angela (Jared) Handel of Waukesha, Ryan Gehrke of New Berlin, and Marc (Kristin Knippel) Gehrke of Verona; great-grandchildren, Jared Jacoby, and Emma and Owen Handel; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Earl (Virginia) Wagner, Irven (Dorothy) Wagner, Vilas Wagner, William (Cleone) Wagner, Raymond (June) Wagner; her mother and father-in-law; brother and sisters-in-law.
Burial will be in the Boscobel Cemetery.
