Eugene R. "Gene" Terry was born December 5, 1930 near Mayesville, Oklahoma to William and Ethel (Griffith) Terry. He died December 22, 2015 in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Gene grew up in the Tecumseh area and graduated from Tecumseh High School. He spent most of his life in Shawnee.

Preceding him in death are a daughter, Vicki Sweatt; a sister, Rozella Daniels, a brother, Herman Terry, and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Terry, his daughter Leslie Aziz (Hap), and his son John Terry (Sharon) as well as three grandsons, Seth Terry, Jonathan Tillman, and Samuel Terry, and three granddaughters, Jessica Permetter, Jenny Permetter, and Emma Aziz. Also surviving him are two sisters, Willa Mae Hall and Marie Dollins and a number of nieces and nephews.

Gene was a military policeman during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Japan.

Gene married Joan Bray in 1960. They had three children; Gene was a hard worker all his life and was a small business owner. During his retirement, Gene enjoyed gardening, home improvement projects, and bird watching and feeding in his backyard.

In 2014 Gene and Joan moved to Apopka, Florida to be with their daughter and her family.

Wednesday, December 30, 2015, 10:00 a.m to Noon his family will be gathered at Resthaven Funeral Home, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, for a time of viewing and visitation followed by a 2 p.m. funeral service also at Resthaven and officiated by Phil Thompson, Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church.
