AUSTIN ENGELBRECHT RHOADS, general agent here for the B&O Railroad and a well-known musician, died Wednesday evening at the Frederick City Hospital of a heart affection. He had been ill for sometime and became critically ill last Sunday, aged 43 years.

He was a son of the late Schaeffer L. and Harriet Engelbrecht Rhoads, this city. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mildred Thomas Rhoads; two sons, William Schaeffer Rhoads and Austin Thomas Rhoads, at home; and a brother, Roscoe B. Rhoads, Leesburg, Va.

He was a member ofthe Evangelical Reformed Church, which he had served for several terms as a deacon, and for the past 13 years he had directed the choir of the Presbyterian Church as well as the music in the Sunday school of that church. He was a member of the State Guard Band. He was prominent fraternally, being a member of Lynch Lodge, No. 163, AF & A. Masons; Enoch Royal Arch Chapter, No. 23; Enoch Council, No. 10; Royal and Select Masters; Jacques DeMolay Commandery, No. 4, Knights of Templar; Frederick Lodge of Perfection; Boumi Temple, Mystic Shrine, Baltimore; and was an honorary member of Ali Ghan Temple, Mystic Shrine, Cumerland.

Services were held at the C.E. Cline and Son funeral home; interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
