He was born in Cooks Point and attended Burleson County public schools. He attended Durham's Business School in Austin and was a 30-year employee of Alcoa, where he was a crane operator. Following his retirement in 1987 he was a rancher.
He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Hovorak.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Hovorak; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Sandra Hovorak of Caldwell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Terry Helton of Austin, Donna and Lee Martin of Anchorage, Alaska, and Lisa and Glynn Wood of Rockdale; two sisters, Lottie Drgac and Martha Trcalek, both of Caldwell; a sister-in-law, Lillie Mae Wright of Montgomery; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
