Barbara Jo Willis Givins, 73, of Gastonia died Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was born September 23, 1935 in Rutherford County, a daughter of the late Dewey Willis and Lula Vel Simmons Willis. She was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church in Gastonia.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30pm, Sunday, August 9, 2009 at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. A graveside service will be held 4pm, Sunday at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Steve Hensley officiating.
Survivors include her husband Charles Francis Givins, Sr. of Gastonia; son, Charles Francis Givins, Jr. of Marion, N.C., brother, Ronald Dewey Willis of Rutherfordton, N.C., sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane Willis Watkins and Henry of Greenville, S.C., Dianne Willis Thompson and Spencer of Hickory, N.C. and one grandchild.
