Obituary for Jessie Mae Grant
Jessie Mae Kay Grant, age 82, of 535 Fair Play Road, Townville, SC, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born on November 29, 1933 in Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Willie Mae Royster Kay and the late Clifton Kay. For 62 years she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Ray Cullen Grant.
Jessie was a graduate of Townville High School and worked at Jantzen Manufacturing, Fair Play Manufacturing and JP Stevens. She was a member of Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church and enjoyed flower gardening, canning vegetables, sewing, and crafts. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sons, Danny Ray Grant (Tricia), of Sandy Springs, SC and Brian Keith Grant (Laurie Poore), of Townville, SC; two daughters, Gail Grant Phillips (Mike) of Winston-Salem, NC and Kathy Grant Parker (Tommy), of Anderson, SC; two brothers, Larry Kay (Juanita), of Belton, SC, and Jerry Kay (Sandra), of Williamston, SC; one sister, Ann Kay Soileau (Joe), of Anderson, SC; seven grandchildren, Corey Grant, Jessica Mayfield, Ashley Schultes, Brandon Phillips, Caitlin Phillips, Nathan Parker, and Kimberly Parker Wright; and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Clifton Kay; and a sister, Barbara Jean Kay Whitfield.
A Funeral Service to honor the life of Jessie Mae Grant will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church in Townville, SC with Pastor Judy Hames and Mr. Wayne Whitfield officiating. Interment will follow at the Townville Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of Kathy and Tommy Parker, 641 La France Road and will receive friends at the church, prior to the service on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
