AYER -- Rene D. (Tuck) Alexander, 95, of Ayer, died December 21, 2015, at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice, Wayland, MA. Her husband, Robert W. Alexander, died in 1989.
Mrs. Alexander was born in Athens, Georgia, May 26, 1920, a daughter of James R. and Rene (Dozier) Tuck, and resided in Ayer for nearly 70 years. She grew up in Athens, Georgia, was a graduate of Athens High School and continued her education at the University of Georgia where, in 1941, she received a bachelors degree in Home Economics. She was also a member of the Chi Omega Sorority.
During World War II, she served as a proud member of the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), at which time she met her husband who was also serving in the Navy.
For several years, Mrs. Alexander worked in the fundraising department at the Nashoba Community Hospital in Ayer. She also served as a volunteer to the Loaves and Fishes Program and had been active in the Ayer Girl Scouting Program. She attended the Federated Church of Ayer.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by three sons, James R. Alexander and his wife, Terri, of Raymond , Maine, Robert S. Alexander and his wife, Linda, of Ada, Michigan, Ronald D. Alexander and his wife, Nan, of Wellesley; a daughter, Rene Frances Weisse and her husband, Joseph, of Natick; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. In 1980, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Emily R. Weisse of Natick.
ALEXANDER -- Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Monday, December 28th at the Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, (Rte. 2A), Ayer. Please see www.andersonfuneral.com for additional information. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton.
