SIGOURNEY-Cindy Hollingsworth, age 54, of Sigourney, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.

Cindy was born May 21, 1958, in Ottumwa, to Tom and JoAnn (Odell) Flactiff. She began school in Ottumwa and graduated from Hedrick High School.

In January of 1975, Cindy married Jim Hornback. They were later divorced.

On February 4, 1983, she married Terry Hollingsworth in Ottumwa. A resident of Keokuk County most of her adult life, Cindy was a dispatcher and jailer for the Keokuk County Sheriff's Office from 1978 until 1987, then worked at First Resources for 17 years. She then returned to her dispatching/jailing position, which was her passion. Cindy was a member of the Iowa State Sheriffs' and Deputies' Association. She was an immaculate housekeeper who enjoyed her grandchildren, playing practical jokes, scary movies, traveling, antiques, garage sales and her dog, Tippy.

Survivors include her husband: Terry of Sigourney; daughter: Mandi (Jess) Jones of Ottumwa; son: Jesse (Crystal) Hornback of Sigourney; two step children: Chad (Jill) Hollingsworth of Grinnell and Lindsay Steinhart (and a friend Dave) of Altoona and six grandchildren: Hailey Gillum, who Cindy and Terry raised from age 5, Madelynn Hornback, Grady and Maris Steinhart, Megan and Ashley Hollingsworth.

She was preceded in death by her mother and very special uncle and aunt: Floyd and Goldie Odell. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012, at the Sigourney United Methodist Church, with Rev. John Hembry officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, where the family will be present from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A general memorial fund has been established.
