MR. DAVID C. COURTNEY, AGE 72

Mr. David C. Courtney, age 72, Robinson, IL, died Tuesday December 22, 2015 at 10:53 PM at the Chester Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Chester, IL.

David was born September 21, 1943 in Fort Recovery, OH, the son of James Homer and Mary Pauline (Arnold) Courtney. On September 25, 1976 he married Rose Marie (Liston) and she preceded him in death March 30, 2010.

Mr. Courtney was a truck driver for Lawrence Sand and Gravel, West Union, IL for 7 years. He served in the US Army from 1965 to 1967; was a member and Past Commander of the VFW Post #2244, Lawrenceville, IL, and served as Junior Vice Commander in District #13, State of IL VFW, and was a member of E.M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion, Robinson, IL.

Survivors include, sons and daughters-in-law, Brian D. and Emma Courtney, Kokomo, IN; Jason T. Courtney and Fiancée Brittany Smith, Robinson, IL; Justin and Kendra Courtney, Flat Rock, IL; daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and David Lancaster, Munfordville, KY; Julie Cox, Palestine, IL; Jessica M. Courtney and Ronald Bone, Oblong, IL; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Sally Courtney, Robinson, IL; James Courtney, Robinson, IL; Tim Courtney, Robinson, IL; Tom and Julie Courtney, Robinson, IL ; sisters and brothers-in-law, Onda Retter, Richmond, IN; Pauline and Rick Chiddix, Palestine, IL; Susie York, Robinson, IL; Becky Kidd, Oblong, IL; thirteen grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Rose Marie Courtney in 2009; a brother Jack Lee Courtney; two sisters, Pauline Lamb and Joyce Hensley; two grandsons, Jaythen and Parker Courtney.

Funeral service will be Tuesday December 29, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL, with Rev. Gene Beard officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday December 29, 2015 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow funeral services at the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine, IL.

Memorials may be made to the VFW Post #4549 Transportation fund with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Military graveside rites will be accorded by Crawford County Veteran’s Organizations.
