C. J. Ryan Dies From Injuries. Prominent Straight Mountain Citizen Dies In Hospital In Birmingham.
C.J. Ryan, one of the most prominent citizens of Straight Mountain, died in a Birmingham hospital at 4:00 0'clock a.m. Thursday of last week as a result of internal injuries received in an automobile accident several days
previous.
Mt. Ryan was well known to many people of this section and, with the exception of a year in Texas and a year spent in St. Clair County, he had spend his entire life in the same county. He was a man who always took and
active part in the up-building of his county and community. He could always be counted on to help in any movement that was on the side of right and progress.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Donnie Ryan; seven sons, John Wesley of Route 2, Oneonta; Hoyt of Bessemer; Ernest, Jim, Lester, Calvin, and Herbert, all of Route 4, Oneonta; four daughters, Esther, Eva, May, and Vera Ryan, all of Route 4, Oneonta; one brother of Phoenix, Arizona; and one sister, Mrs. Mary McConnell of Route 2, Oneonta.
Funeral services were conducted at Antioch on November 1st at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wallace Murphree conducting and Robinette in charge.
