Redeford died circa 1895. He is last found in a newspaper article dated May 6, 1892, but he is not listed in the 1895 State and 1900 Federal Censuses.

Redeford's forename at this point is a matter of conjecture. In all the documents it is found in a form of Redeford or Rethaford. Unfortunately it appears from documents that he could not sign his own name. Which means he couldn't spell. Add that to an east Kentucky accent and thus the confusion found in documents written by attorneys and clerks.

He was married (firstly) on December 9, 1845, in Johnson County, Kentucky, to (his cousin) Elizabeth Ann Price.

He was married (secondly) on November 21, 1874, at Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas, to Charlotta A. (Thrailkill) Hunt.

***Minnie Preston is NOT the daughter of Charlotta A. (Thrailkill) Hunt. Her mother is unknown at this time. Charlotta divorced Redeford after his daughter Minnie (by another woman, who evidently died) was sent to him. Charlotta took her three young children and moved back to her original home.***

He was married (thirdly) on February 10, 1880, in Neosho County, Kansas, to Ellen A. (Potter) Wands.

Redeford served in the Union Army during the Civil War. He enlisted on September 2, 1863, in Willow Springs Township, and was mustered into service on October 8, 1864, at Lawrence, Kansas, into Company A, 21st Kansas Militia Regiment, for service resisting Confederate General Sterling Price’s invasion of north-western Missouri. He was in the Battle of Big Blue, near Independence, Missouri on October 22, 1864. He was mustered out of service October 28, 1864.

Redeford also had the following child, who has yet to be located:
* Jesse N. Preston: born 1859, in Douglas County, Kansas. Last known to be living in 1885.
