Michael leaves his wife of 32 years, Colleen, his children Sean (Pam), Steven (Laura), Christina, Kelly, David (Lainie), and Kevin, as well as his grandchildren Madeline, Gavin, Tyler, Jacob and Isabella. Also surviving are his sister Martha Alwes and brother Patrick (Dottie) and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and many, many friends.

"Poppy"

Michael D. Lafferty, "Poppy", of Wilmington, DE passed away at the age of 54 in Burlington, VT. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death, early Thursday morning, September 1, 2005.

Michael was born and raised in TN and moved to DE in 1964. He was a graduate of Claymont High School. Michael retired after almost 30 years from the Dupont Country Club. After his early retirement, Michael and his wife Colleen traveled extensively in their motor home. He currently had been a manager for the North Beach Camp Ground in Burlington, VT. Michael was a generous, giving man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan who loved wood carving, fishing, golfing, coaching his children's baseball teams, traveling, music and being a wonderful "Poppy" to his 6 grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his soul mate, his wife of 32 years, Colleen Stevens Lafferty, who he adored and loved with all of his heart; his children, Sean Lafferty and wife, Pam, Steven Lafferty and fiancée, Laura Carr, Christy Lafferty, Kelly Lafferty, David Lafferty and his fiancée, Lainie Lanciano, and his youngest son, Kevin Lafferty. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Maddie, Gavin, Tyler, Jacob, Isabella, Luke; his sister; Martha Alwes of Champaign, IL; and brother Patrick Lafferty of Kansas City, MO. Michael will be greatly missed by all that knew him, including brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers.

A service will be on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at 11 am at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville, where friends may call after 10 am. Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery.
