Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Owens LaRue and Clarence LaRue, her husband of 68 years, Mark Morris, whom she married on March 23, 1940, and her sister, Fama Frank.
Lydia is lovingly remembered by her children, Samuel (Joy) Morris and Jan (Patrick) Joyce, grandchildren, Mikelle Middleton and Mark Morris, and great-grandchildren, Amanda and Luke, step grandchildren, Elysia Krieger and Lena Joyce, step great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Theodore, Violet, and Oliver, and her nephews Wallace, Robert, and Robin Frank and their families.
Lydia was born on April 22, 1919 in Hannibal, Missouri. After graduating high school at the age of 16, she moved to Louisiana, MO where she worked for the Stark Bros Nursery. She was an accomplished golfer and remarkably once made a hole-in-one. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, doing crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. Lydia was a loving and supportive partner to her husband in his business and their escapades together. She will be remembered for her strong wit, beautiful smile, and her keen intelligence.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Calvary Episcopal Church in Louisiana, MO with Rev. Pat Glenn officiating. Burial will be at the Gates of Peace Cemetery, Louisiana, MO. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the church. Friends are invited to a luncheon at the Calvary Episcopal Church Parrish House following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Twin Pike Family YMCA in Louisiana, MO, or a charity of your choice.
