JOHN RICE
JOHN RICE, PIONEER OF RAPIDS, DEAD OF OLD AGE
Another of the early day pioneers of the county has been called to his rest, death claiming John Rice, one of the best known residents of the county ,at his home in Rapids Sunday. Mr. Rice was 84 years of age and had been a resident of the county since 1860, coming here to engage in farming, which he continued up to the time of his death. Mr. Rice was well known throughout the county and had a host of friends who will note his passing with regret. For some past he had been failing and had become feeble. Death was quiet and peaceful. Mr. Rice is survived by a widow and four sons, Lawrence, Hugh, Mack, and Will. The funeral will be held from the home at Rapids at 8 Wednesday morning to Silver Lake. Mr. Rice was well known in the city.
