Eugene H. Bowler, 89, of Lakefield, died Monday evening December 21, 2015 at Golden Leaves Living Center in Newberry.

Born September 24, 1926 in Newberry, son of the late Hercules and Alta (Mark) Bowler, Eugene attended McMillan High School. On May 15, 1948, he married the former Mary Clark in Newberry. He served in the United States Army during World War II until his honorable discharge on November 10, 1946 attaining the rank of Private First Class.

Following his discharge, he resided with his wife Mary in Lakefield. In 1966, he moved to Ypsilanti where he was employed with Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti for 24 years until his retirement in 1988. Following his retirement, he moved back to Lakefield where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Eugene was a member of the V.F.W. Post #6030 in Germfask and attended Northstar Baptist Church in McMillan.

In addition to his parents, Eugene is preceded in death by his wife Mary on February 15, 2007; son Dwight Bowler; siblings Helena Bowler, Dorothy Hill and Venola Doran and grandson Scott Lucas.
