Born in Abilene, Texas on June 4, 1958 he was the son of Aubrey and Alberta Isom. Gordon was a lifetime resident of Abilene. He served in the U.S. Army as a cannon crewman and was awarded decorations as a rifle sharpshooter and a first class hand grenade. He later served in the National Guard.
He was employed as an auto mechanic with Bill Powell Honda. He was a Baptist and attended College View Baptist Church and Gordon loved to bowl.
He is predeceased by his father, Aubrey Isom in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Isom of Abilene; his mother, Alberta Isom of Abilene; two brothers, Rodney Isom of Sweetwater and Terry Isom of Abilene; and a sister, Verdis Knight of Yorktown, Virginia.
