Charlotte Ann Townsend Allen of Palmer, Alaska, passed away on Dec. 15, 2015, age 79, at Colony House Assisted Living in Wasilla, Alaska.

Charlotte was born in Buhl, Idaho on June 24, 1936, the fourth of five children born to John and Sybil Townsend.

Charlotte met her husband, Lee Dale Allen, at the University of Idaho. They married on June 19, 1955, in Hagerman, Idaho, and celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2015.

Charlotte and Lee moved to Alaska in 1957, and have lived near Palmer since. They have three grown children, Albert Lee Allen, Bonnie Gwen Allen and Carol Jane Allen Seidlitz, as well as seven grandchildren.

Charlotte was a school teacher who taught 5th grade for many years. She was always up for an adventure and enjoyed spending time, summer or winter, at their cabins on the Yentna and Anchor Rivers. After having a colostomy, she volunteered time to help others learn to deal with ostomies.

Charlotte was a member of the United Protestant Church in Palmer and also a member of Beta Sigma Phi for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Lee; her children, Al, Bonnie and Carol; her grandchildren and two brothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a grandson. Services will be held at the United Protestant Church in Palmer on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at 2 p.m.
