Allie was born in Marshville, North Carolina, to James Floyd and Alma May (Moore) Little. She graduated from Western Carolina and began a teaching career. She taught in at least five North Carolina public schools in her lifetime. She first married John Matheson, and to that union was born a son Bobby Ray; but the marriage was short lived. While struggling as a single mother she taught school and her parents cared for her son Bobby. Just before World War 2 was declared, she met and married her life time partner and love of her life, James Crawford. Their marriage took place on 21 February 1941 at Fort Jackson, SC, in the128th Field Artillery chapel.
In just 3 short weeks the war took him overseas and it was 3 and 1/2 years before Jim and Allie were able to unite as a family. As a soldier in the US Army, he bravely defended this nation until an injury brought him home near the war's end. Like so many others, the sacrifices they both made for the sake of our national freedom should long be remembered with grateful hearts.

Allie taught in public school until her retirement from Union Hill School in High Point, NC, where she had taught for over 20 years. Jim and Allie moved to Wake Forest, NC, to be near their daughter until death took them to their final rest.

Allie's faith was in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and she had served as a Sunday School and VBS teacher many times through the years.
