I, Veronica Kae Daniels, the 4th cousin 2x removed of Bridget Isadore "Dora" Foster's 1st husband, James Paxton, offer this following analysis of Dora's date of birth and place and suggest that Dora was actually born on 22 Oct 1856, not 1859 or 1860.
There is some contradictory and confusing information regarding her actual date of birth. Her official Death Certificate recorded her birth as 22 Oct 1859 based on information provided by her 2nd husband, Joseph G. (not D.) Bedard. Since her date of death of 3 Jun 1914 and her age of 54 years, but no actual date of birth, is inscribed on her grave headstone, the year of her birth has been calculated by some to have occurred in 1860 without regard to the day and month, not 1859, and her Death Certificate has been unofficially revised by hand to show her birthdate as 22 Oct 1860. This correction is misleading and incorrect since the date on her original Death Certificate is correct based on her age being 54 when she died. S. and Nebraska State census records from 1860-1910 and her two marriage records in 1875 and 1903 indicate that she may have started intentionally misleading people about her age sometime after the death of her 1st husband in 1891, before 1900 and her 2nd marriage in 1903, about being 3-4 years younger than her actual age. Using the complete date when the various data was recorded (not just year), an assumed birth date of 22 Oct 1856, not 22 Oct 1859, matches her age exactly as recorded in the 1870, 1880, and 1910 U. S. Censuses, 1885 Nebraska State Census, and on her first marriage license in 1875, while the 1860 U. S. Census indicated that she would have been 1 year younger (age 3) than recorded (age 4), an understandable discrepancy. Assuming 1856 is the correct year of birth, not 1859, her age recorded in the 1900 U. S. Census should have been 43, not 39; 46, not 42, on her 2nd marriage record in 1903, and 57, not 54 on her Death Certificate and headstone when she died on 3 Jun 1914. Based on this analysis, it appears that she was actually born on 22 Oct 1856, not 22 Oct 1859, which is what I am reporting in my "Tonne-Haynes Family Tree".
