Earnest was the son of Andrew Jackson Williams and Willie Pearl (Thaxton) Williams. He was the youngest of the 12 children born into the family. He was a cattleman. He attended the University of Mississippi. He married Mildred Lee York of Pontotoc, Mississippi. They had daughters Mildred Dale, Barbara Joyce, Martha Deloras, and Ernestine York. Mildred married Wilford E. Raper, Barbara married Robert Lee Stevens, Deloras married Warren Earl Mullen, and Ernestine married Everett Sandy Rushing.
