He was the oldest son of Gerald R. Bennett and Martha Jane Drury Bennett who preceded him in death. He was married on February 14, 1971 to Kathleen McEwen Bennett and they had two sons. Kenneth Wesley Bennett and James Todd Bennett.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathleen Bennett, his two sons Wesley and wife Andrea of Memphis; and Todd and fiance Felicia of Jonesboro. He is also survived by his brother, Ronnie Bennett and wife Alice of Wynne; two sisters, Cora Hess and husband John and Judy McManus and husband Morgan; several nieces and nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts.
Stanley served his country in the Navy from 1967 until 1971 as a navigator on P3 Orion VP-24, hunting and spotting foreign submarines. He was a member of the Veteran Affairs of Cross County, helped with the Veterans Cemetery. He was a member of Union Avenue Baptist Church and served as a deacon and chairman. He loved his church family and enjoyed helping them in any way. Stanley loved riding motorcycles and meeting all sorts of bikers. He was a member of A.B.A.T.E., District 2 in Jonesboro and a lifetime member of ABATE. He was active in helping A.B.A.T.E. Charity work such as the Toy run in Jonesboro for needy children.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 6 to 8 at Kernodle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, December 21, 2015 at 10 AM at Kernodle Funeral Home with burial in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at Birdeye.
