Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late George H. and Mary Harmess Schickel, and the husband of Jane L. Sheppard Schickel.
A truck driver, he worked for Shelly Moving and Storage Co. a subdivision of Allied Van Lines. He served with the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Rainmakers Assoc., and enjoyed camping, football, poker, Nascar racing and spending time with his family.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jane, children; Deborah Weiler, Donna Craig, Robert E. Schickel, Jr., and Paul O. Schickel; his son in laws, Brian Craig and Guillermo Garcia, all of Lancaster, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and six sisters. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
