Smith had been a lifelong resident of Walton County, Florida. He was Baptist by faith. He was an accomplished carpenter, he loved to fish and hunt and dearly loved his two sons. He was an avid outdoorsman.
Smith was predeceased by his father and mother, Floyd Benjamin Smith and Lonell Wise Smith and one daughter, Hamie Lachell Smith.
Smith is survived by his two sons, Daniel Joseph Smith, of DeFuniak Springs, FL and Thurston Patrick Smith, of Bonifay, FL; five brothers, Aaron Smith and wife, Eleanor, of DeFuniak Springs, Wendell Smith, of Birmingham, AL, Terell Smith and wife, Robin, Roy Smith and wife, Judy, and Jimmy Smith and wife, Carol, all of DeFuniak Springs; on sister, Betty Jean Nichols and husband, Byron, of Andalusia, AL; two special nieces, Connie Thrower and Terra Smith; and two special friends, Dave Farrior and Ted Williamson.
Memorial services were conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, with Rev. Barry Landman officiating.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
