Her parents were early converts to the LDS Church, joining it in New Hampshire in 1841. Luther and Charity moved to Nauvoo, Illinois to be with the main body of the Saints, but when the church members were driven out of Nauvoo in 1846, it is possible the Reeds returned to New Hampshire. It is said Charity died in Newport in 1849. It is possible that all four of them are buried near each other in the Newport area.
Currently, the exact burial locations are unknown.
