Rob Roy Redding, 67 of Edmond, OK, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at his home with his family, after a long struggle with cancer.
Rob was born June 12, 1948 in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Southgate High School in 1966. Following high school he served a two-year proselyting mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the central United States, spending much of his time in Oklahoma. After returning to California from his mission, he immediately moved back to attend the University of Oklahoma in Norman and graduated with his business degree in 1976. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity.
While in Norman Rob met and married Cynthia Spring of Ardmore, OK. They were married in 1974 and later sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles LDS Temple in 1975. Together they have four children and nine grandchildren.
Rob worked for the Oklahoma Tax Commission for many years before starting his own mortgage company and working in oil and gas.
Rob’s life was centered on his family, and he loved being a father and later a grandfather. He enjoyed time with the family at the lake, at OU football games, and mostly around the dinner table.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; and his family consisting of Jeffrey Corbin (Angela) Redding of Yukon, OK; Melissa Redding of Edmond, OK; Dana Redding (Steve) Nye of Birmingham, AL; and Julie Redding (Chris) Sasser of Idaho Falls, ID. He is also survived by his siblings Richard Redding of San Pedro, CA; Alene Redding Risher of Boise, ID; and Salli Redding-Munshaur of Meridian, ID.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Nedra Redding, and two brothers, Randy and Rex.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (12020 North Mustang Rd, Yukon, OK).
The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Vondel L. Smith & Son funeral home (13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Oklahoma City, OK).
