GREENS FORK, Ind. – Hershel Wilson, age 85, of Greens Fork, died Friday, December 18, 2015 at his home surrounded by family. Born August 31, 1930, in Middleburg, Kentucky, to Ernest and Nannie Ellen Kinniard Wilson, Hershel lived in Greens Fork after moving from Florida. He retired as a supervisor from the Florida Department of Corrections. Hershel had also worked as a farmer, a truck driver, and a heavy equipment operator. He was a loving and generous man with a great sense of humor. Hershel loved to tinker in his garage. He died one day before he and his wife were to celebrate their 68th wedding anniversary. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Reed Wilson, to whom he was married in 1947; daughters, Mary (Terry) Devers of Greens Fork, Indiana, Tammy (James Smith) Barton of Greens Fork, Indiana, and Teresa (Kevin) Goble of Beattyville, Kentucky; son, W. Hershel (Dana) Wilson of Richmond; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, with another due in 2016; three great-great- grandchildren; sister, Hazel Mason of Texas; brother, Ernest Eugene Wilson of Florida; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Wilson; granddaughter, Kimberly Wilson; parents; and brothers, Edgar and Chester Wilson. Visitation for Hershel Wilson will be from 1 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Neal Griffis and Hershel’s son-in-law, Terry Devers, officiating. Burial will be in Greens Fork South Cemetery.
