Milton Robert (Bob) Swanson, 92, passed away on December 12, 2015, at Grace Assisted Living in Boise, Idaho. He was born June 12, 1923 in Fullerton, Nebraska. He graduated from Fullerton High School in 1941.Bob served in the United States Navy, March of 1943 to January 1946. He was stationed in the states during World War II. He was an independent duty trainer and small craft shipman in Portsmouth, Virginia. Then he went to Corvallis, Oregon until the war ended. He then went to Bremerton, Washington where he was discharged in January of 1946. He did his Basic and Hospital Corpsman training at Farragut, Idaho and at a Navy Hospital in Seattle, Washington. In November of 1950, he was called back into the Navy. He served on the USS Zelima during the Korean War as a Hospital Corpsman. He was discharged in March of 1952.Bob raised his family on a small farm in Nampa, Idaho. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for two years. He hauled milk for eleven years and then worked for the Nampa Post Office for 26 years. After retiring, he served as a part-time custodian for the Vallivue School District.Bob is survived by his two daughters, Randalin Kae Huter (Mike) and Judith Ann Huter, (Dan), and six grandchildren: Chris (Kristi) Swanson, Lisa (John) Lauer, Lynsie (Alonzo) Sanchez, Josh (Mackenzie) Swanson, Matt (Allison) Huter, and Brad (Kim) Huter, and 14 great grandchildren; Hayden, Alyssa, Landen (Chris), Avarey, Rowynn, (Lisa), Dalaynie, Sophie (Lynsie), Jovie, Bennette, (Josh), Shay, Will, Owen, Livy, (Matt), and Derrick (Brad).He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Alexander and Minne Lohr Swanson, his brother Milford Lincoln (Pike) Swanson, his grandson Brent Allen Huter, his wife Melvina Alene Rogers Swanson, his son Robert David Swanson, and his second wife, Joan Rogers. The Family would like to thank all of dad's doctors, Grace Assisted Living, Boise where he lived for the last 5 years and St. Luke's Hospice for his excellent care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Idaho Commission for Libraries, Talking Book Donation, 325 West State Street, Boise, Idaho 83702. Funeral services will be held in Bob's honor on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 10:00am at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. South, Nampa. 466-3545. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
