Dennis Joe Maxwell, 72, of St. Clair, died Thursday, December 17, 2015. He was born June 7, 1943 in Athens, Ohio to the late Arnold and Pauline Maxwell. He married Geraldine L. "Geri" Reed on August 2, 1986 in East Detroit.

Dennis loved ballroom dancing. He was an instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in his younger years, won 3rd place in International competition, and was still instructing locally with Geri, who had been his partner since 1967. Dennis had also served in the U.S. Army and worked for Moore Business Forms. He enjoyed sailing and gardening and earned the Advanced Master Gardener designation. He enjoyed sharing his love of gardening with others through 4-H and had earned several volunteer awards.

He is survived by his wife, Geri; two sisters, Martha Sims and Lisa Travis; a brother-in-law, Robert Lokey; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Leila Maxwell; a brother, Robert (Pat) Maxwell; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Lokey.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m Sunday, December 27, 2015 in Marysville Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 in Marysville Funeral Home. Pastor Mark Haller of St. Peter's Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township.
