Ricky Dean Stout, 63, of Vinton, Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 12, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, AJ Stout; and his beloved dog, Riley.Rick is survived by his wife, Mona Steahly Stout; his mother, Doris Stout; two brothers, Anthony (Karen) Stout and Jay (Amy) Stout; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.Rick spent the last 35 years with the love of his life, his wife, Mona. Children and animals warmed his heart and always dominated his attention. His life was spent surrounded with the love of family and friends. Rick's motto was "Every day's a good day." He lived a full life, doing the things he wanted to do.Rick was employed at Singer and Hooker Furniture. His passion was wood working, creating beauty from simple pieces of wood. Rick had a beautiful baritone voice, that when lifted in song, projected warmth and comfort to the listener. Rick was an intelligent man with a strong sense of wit and sarcastic humor.Although Rick's health suffered for many years, it never diminished his zest for life. He defied the medical world and fought battles few would have survived. His strength was admired by all.Rick's family would like to thank Jimmy Steahly and his nurse, Kathy Furr, for the special care he received in the last months of his life.A Celebration of Rick's Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Sherwood Memorial Park, Abbey Chapel. Friends are invited to share in the celebration with his wife and family. A reception will follow at another location.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Good Samaritan Hospice or Angels of Assisi.
