Valerie “Auntie B” (Steele) Allen transitioned to be with the Lord on December 16, 2015 at 10:01 am at Mosaic Life Center.
She was born on October 21, 1966 to Robert H. Steele Jr. and Roberta Anne Steele in Kansas City, Kansas.
Her father Robert H. Steele Jr. and maternal grandmother Emma Mae Burns preceded her in death.
She was born in Kansas City, Kansas and at an early age moved to California with her family. She was born into a spiritual family and always professed a strong faith in Jesus Christ. She and her husband Donnell re-dedicated their lives to Christ and joined Hope Fellowship Church under Pastor Earnestine Blakley.
She married Donnell Allen on August 5, 1997 (18 years). Donnell was surely her soulmate and she was never too happy being away from him. If he wasn’t in sight she would holler “DONNELL!” and he would come running. She was the rock of her family. Valerie was a clean fanatic, loved to cook, and showed great affection for family and friends. Valerie was the heart of the family and truly cherished her husband, children, and grandchildren. Valerie not only blessed Donnell’s life but also Lawrence, Fredie, and Donnell Jr. They were very dear to her heart and she raised them as her own.
Valerie was acknowledged as “Auntie B” by her nieces and nephews due to her niece Gloria’s lack of pronunciation. She never corrected any of them because Valerie always went with the flow. Valerie was known by her siblings as the baby of the family and she was so fast no one could keep up with her. She was a daddy’s girl and used her charming smile to get away with everything. Valerie always seemed to get herself out of trouble by squealing on her siblings. She was the root of many spankings for her siblings.
Valerie was a workaholic and didn’t stop working until her health limited her ability. She was employed at Triumph Foods in St. Joseph, Mo for nearly 5 years, and still worked even when her health began to decline, because she loved her job. Valerie’s colleagues truly enjoyed being around her! Even on her worst days, she made their day.
We will always remember Valerie’s upbeat spirit. She was always concerned about others in her weakest moments and never put her pain before anyone else’s. She never said goodbye she always said, “Love ya.”
She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Donnell Allen of the home, father-in-law, Lewis Allen Sr. of the home, her mother; Roberta Steele of Kansas City, Mo. Siblings; Brian Steele, Pamela Steele Allen (Calvin), Sean Steele (Tamara), Ronald Steele, Margaret Steele Lombard (Michael), Michael Steele, and David Steele. Children; Darnell Allen, Cresensia Allen, Donnell Allen Jr, Vanessa Allen, Rozie Allen, Lacon Allen, Shamika Allen, Lawrence Allen, Joanne Allen, and Elianna Allen. One aunt E. Louise Lee (Oliver) and one uncle Albert Burns (Billie). Faithful and loving brother and sister in law Rodney Allen (Laurenda). Her close 1st cousins Dr. Gina Richardson-Taylor and Lance Richardson. Along with a host of many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, Hope Fellowship Church, 2921 N Belt Hwy, St. Joseph, MO. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. Online guest book and obituary at www.meierhoffer.com.
